Facilities:
Set in a sheltered valley in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, a visit to RSPB Pulborough Brooks nature reserve makes an ideal day out for all ages. Our clearly marked nature trail is open all year and has superb views over the Arun Valley towards the South Downs. In autumn and winter, the reserve attracts thousands of wild ducks and other water birds. It is equally worth visiting in the spring to hear and see the song birds, while during the summer, the reserve bursts into life with wildlife of all kinds, including birds, butterflies, wild flowers and dragonflies.
In the visitor centre, there is a well-stocked shop with a range of gifts, books, birdcare and wildlife products. The tearoom has gained a well-deserved local reputation for the quality of its lunches and teas, featuring a range of delicious cakes.

Education Visits:
Pulborough Brooks is a restored wetland site managed for the conservation of wintering wildfowl, breeding birds and other wildlife. Set in the beautiful Arun Valley it also contains grassland, woodland, hedgerows, heathland and scrub, which are important for many species of birds, small mammals, insects and plants. It is an ideal site for pre-school, National Curriculum-related field teaching programmes for all Key Stages, further and higher education and teacher inset courses.
You can visit with your students any weekday during the school term. Full and half-day sessions are available – start and finish times to be agreed with individual schools. Special offers are available on visits during the winter months.
You are welcome to visit to have a look where your students will be working, do a risk assessment and finalise your programme at any time during the year. The Education Officer will be happy to discuss your visit, show you around and provide you with copies of our risk assessments.
