Kew’s Country Garden
Visit Wakehurst Place and you will discover a large estate of over 180 acres, filled with amazing varieties of plants and trees, including famous collections from the southern hemisphere and Asia. Walk around our temperate woodlands and wetland areas or relax in the ornamental gardens that surround the 16th-century mansion. Perhaps take in the Specimen Beds, which provide glorious colours throughout the year, or the Himalayan Glade, filled with the flowers and scents of rhododendrons from May onwards.

A World Centre for Conservation
Conservation is high on the agenda at Wakehurst Place. The estate is home to the Millennium Seed Bank Project. This £80million conservation project is literally a race against time to save the world’s most endangered plants from extinction.

Catering at Wakehurst
At Wakehurst we adopt the ethos that the food we provide should, where possible, be created from locally sourced ingredients and we support organic and FairTrade producers. The award-winning Stables restaurant is newly enlarged and situated within the Grade-II former stables block. It is a licensed family restaurant where you can enjoy lunch or tea. Group bookings accepted.

Guided tours
Groups can book the services of one of our experienced guides.  It’s a great way to gain a deeper understanding of the plants and trees in Wakehurst’s collection, as well as the long history of the site itself.
